Safeguarding Adults

We offer both Train the Trainer courses and Foundation Level Safeguarding training.

Our Train the Trainer course is designed to equip individuals with the skills and knowledge needed to deliver safeguarding adults training within their own organisation.

We base our service on a five year ongoing contract to quality assure safeguarding training delivered throughout Gloucestershire by multi agency partners from adult education, private care home and domiciliary care providers, health services, the voluntary sector and the police.

We are able to support trainers deliver better safeguarding outcomes because we know from personal experience the operational issues affecting safeguarding that staff across all these areas experience. We can then help trainers to identify particular issues that if discussed and resolved in training can lead to better operational practice.

We understand the learning and development issues that affect the quality of teaching and learning. This means we can support trainers across the continuum from having no formal teaching experience and beyond.

We keep up to date and help our trainers to recognise ways of maintaining their own continuing professional development within safeguarding practice, teaching and learning as well as operational practice. The training is underpinned by an evidence base of best practice, codes of conduct and policy and legislative guidance.

Our foundation level safeguarding training can be delivered in house or across open courses and is aimed at all staff working with vulnerable adults in any setting.

It’s effective because the principles that underpin person centred practices, the Mental Capacity Act and Human and Civil Rights are presented as integral to Safeguarding best practice.

Based on seven years' delivery of safeguarding training, we have developed a sound insight into the barriers that staff face to recognising and reporting abuse. Our training draws on this to provoke and facilitate a clear understanding of staff roles and responsibilities.

Our expertise in working with adult learners means that we quickly create an atmosphere in which delegates tell us they feel relaxed, confident and purposeful about their learning.
